Understanding Automatic Garage Door Openers

Automatic garage door openers

Automatic garage door openers have made life very convenient since the 1970. Garage Door openers have evolved into a huge market of different kinds of automatic openers, to cater to everyone’s needs. Many automatic garage door openers can be installed by do it yourselfers. Harry Jr’s Garage Doors installs automatic garage door openers in the areas of Stockton, Lodi, Elk Grove and all surrounding areas.   When taking in the safety factor of the installation, it is better to leave it to the experts.

There are 4 types of automatic garage door openers to choose from. Chain drive, belt drive, screw drive and jackshaft.  Most of the models also have the choice of a AC motor or DC motor (will open the garage door a little slower). There are factors you need to think about when choosing what opener is best for you and your family. No matter what garage door opener you choose, they all come with the safety feature (sensor beams) to protect anything or anyone who would be under the door while closing.  Here are some questions to ask your self when choosing a garage door opener.

-Are you looking for a quiet garage opener? Do you have a room above the garage? ( if so a belt drive would be the best choice)

-Do you need remote access? Do you need wireless access?

-What is your budget? ( Chain drive is the least expensive garage opener)

-Do you have a high ceiling in the garage, a lot of free area overhead? (Which would make Jackshaft best choice)

Chain Drivin Automatic garage openers are the least expensive of the 4. Although they are the loudest out the different openers, it is just as dependable, very durable, and a solid choice.

Belt drivin automatic garage openers are quieter then the chain drives do to the rubber belt, and less vibration. They cost a little more than the chains. Perfect for those with living quarters above the garage

Screw Drivin automatic garage openers are built to withstand extreme temperatures hot or cold. Very little maintenance is involved.

Jackshfaft automatic garage openers are great if your trying to keep the middle of your garage wide open for storage or projects. Jackshaft openers are installed on the side of the garage door, and are very quiet also.
